Competition
Currently, there are no technology integration coaching companies in the U.A.E. and, although, there are a few individuals and companies in other parts of the world, there are none in Rwanda and very few in all of Africa. Of those that do exist, they don't have the same 'pay-it-forward' model as we do. We believe in quality education for everyone, which means starting with quality professional development. We know that each teaching context is unique and one-size-fits-all training models don't work. We identify the available technology, instead of dictating it, and then coach teachers on how to effectively implement it in their classrooms to enhance learning. We also believe that teachers in underdeveloped countries deserve the same high level training that teachers in developed countries are able to take advantage of, and in turn, help their students bridge the digital and economical divide.
NGOs that Provide Technology
All of the projects or organizations below have the same mission, to help close the technological gap between low and high income nations. We hope to work closely with some of them because it's been reported that, although their intentions are good, they neglect to provide any training for the teachers or they don't have the necessary skills to support educators' implementation of technology to enhance learning. Educators need to learn more than where to click or tap, they need to understand how the technology fits within the content and pedagogy. We would fulfill this knowledge and skills gap by providing the necessary coaching to ensure that the introduction of technology in the classrooms is both sustainable and successful. We also plan to provide a sustainable model by training local teachers to become certified I Am Here Learning coaches, so that the learning doesn't end when our team leaves. It would be just the beginning.
